Grants Awarded:  Taxpayers donating $93,000 last year to CUHA.  In December, 2012 we awarded $65,000 to 17 horse rescues for training, gelding, euthanasia and education and to 6 veterinarians for gelding and euthanasia.  An additional $15,000 was awarded in September for Emergency Hay Grants to 14 horse rescues and 2 hay banks.  

Websites: On going expansion of the CUHA websites,www.counwantedhorse.org and our adoption website tool, www.Equidopt.org continue to be our primary communication mechanism for horse rescues and the public.

Research: Ongoing data collection and analysis of horse rescue capacity, intake and disposition numbers of unwanted horses.

Gelding survey of Colorado veterinarians completed shows increase in number of unwanted horses yet no discernible increase in euthanasia for convenience of owners.

Study on adoptability of BLM mustangs by the Center for Animals and Public Policy at Tufts University Veterinarian School partially funded by CUHA.
